The pump is the one part of a pond that never gets a day off. The AquaMax Eco Expert is the high-output end of the Oase range, built for koi ponds running a drum or gravity filter. It also suits waterfalls with real height. Flow runs from 21,000 to 44,000 litres an hour on mains power.
What sets it apart is control. Flow is adjusted electronically, so you can turn it down on a still evening or up when the filter needs it. Oase say the Seasonal Flow Control function saves up to 30% more energy, which matters on a pump that runs around the clock.
It is more pump than a small garden pond needs. A fish pond of a few thousand litres is better served by the AquaMax Eco Premium or Classic, at a fraction of the price. The 12 V models are the other exception: they exist for swimming ponds and natural pools, where low voltage is the safer choice.

Step one: the flow your system asks for

This range starts at 19,300 l/h. If your answer is under about 20,000 l/h, the standard AquaMax Eco range is the better buy.
Step two: head, then match the model
- 1. Measure the vertical rise from the water surface to the outlet, in metres.
- 2. Add about 10% of the hose run as friction. A 20 m run adds roughly 2 m of head.
- 3. Compare that total to the maximum head column: 8.0 m on the 21000, up to 9.5 m on the 44000, but only 4.6 m on either 12 V model.
- 4. Leave headroom. A pump working at its ceiling delivers a fraction of its rated flow.

The 12 V models trade head for safety. At 4.6 m they suit flat sites, not tall waterfalls.

Every model here is variable speed, which is why the range is so wide. Run it hard when the pond needs it, wind it back overnight or through the cooler months. At the top of the 44000 range you are spending more on power in a year than many pumps cost to buy, so the speed control is the point, not a feature.
What to measure before you decide
- Pond volume in litres, or your filter maximum flow.
- Vertical rise from the water surface to the outlet, in metres.
- Hose run length and internal diameter. These take 38 or 50 mm.
- Whether you want to run it slower overnight, since every model here is variable speed.
- Whether low voltage matters at your site, which decides mains against 12 V.

Choosing between mains and 12 V
Choose 230 V mains for koi ponds, gravity or drum filters and waterfalls. It gives the most flow and the most head. Choose 12 V low voltage for a swimming pond or natural pool. The trade is height: the 12 V models lift to 4.6 m, against 8.0 to 9.5 m on mains.

Yes. It can be submerged in the pond or dry installed in a pump chamber, where its quiet running suits a spot near the house.
How does the flow adjustment work?
Flow is adjusted electronically. The Seasonal Flow Control function can save up to 30% more energy by matching output to the season. The pump can also be controlled through the OASE Control app with a Garden Controller or InScenio FM-Master.
What happens if it runs dry or blocks?
Environmental Function Control, which Oase call EFC, protects the pump against running dry and blockages. It still needs a clean intake, so check the screen when you service the pond.
What will it move through?
Solids up to 11 mm, such as plant material and fish waste, pass through to the filter rather than clogging the pump.
What does the warranty cover?
Oase give 3 years, plus a further 2 years when you register the pump with Oase. You call My Acre and we handle the claim with Aquatec, the Australian distributor.
