The 940 mm firebrick-lined firebox throws steady radiant heat from a normal wood fire. Add the optional cast iron grill to cook over the coals.

Good to know before you buy
- It sits on a slab. Reinforced concrete, min 100 mm thick, sized 150 mm past the fireplace on each side, to carry the 960 kg build weight.
- Freestanding or against a wall. Build in the open, raised on a plinth, or hard to a wall. Keep 75 mm clear of any combustible material.
- You can build it yourself. Pumice blocks join with the supplied adhesive, no specialist tools. Allow 72 hours to cure before the first fire.
- Finish it to suit. Render (two bags included), paint with breathable masonry paint, or clad in feature stone.

What is the difference between the Hotham, Ossa and Perisher?
Hotham: mid-size (1,090 mm wide, 940 mm firebox). Ossa: compact (685 mm, grill included). Perisher: largest (1,330 mm, 1,180 mm firebox, strongest heat). All three share the same pumice build and five year warranty.
Can you cook on the Hotham?
Yes, with the optional cast iron grill. Drop it in the firebox once the fire settles to coals. A pizza stone on top lets you cook pizza too. Sold separately (unlike the Ossa, which includes one).
What base does the Hotham need?
A reinforced concrete slab, min 100 mm thick, 150 mm past the fireplace on each side. Must be level and carry the 960 kg build weight. Existing slab or purpose poured pad both work.
How close to the house or a fence can it go?
Freestanding, raised on a plinth, or hard against a wall. Keep 75 mm clear of combustibles. The pumice insulates well: outer surface stays cooler than dense concrete.
How hard is it to install?
Designed for owner installation. Lightweight pumice blocks join with the supplied adhesive, no specialist tools. Guide times: body ~1.5 hours, firebricks 1 to 2 hours, rendering ~2 hours. Allow 72 hours to cure before the first fire.
Can I make the chimney taller?
Yes. Extra chimney blocks come in 300 mm increments and stack onto the standard chimney. More height improves draw in covered or sheltered spots.
What does the five year warranty cover?
Major structural cracks caused by a manufacturing defect. Excludes consumable parts (firebricks, cooking grill, log retainer), damage from excessive heat or overloading, accidental damage after rendering, and normal hairline cracking. See our warranty page for full terms.
How is the Hotham delivered?
Palletised on a single pallet, to your door or a depot. Busy periods can take up to 3 business days to prepare. We stay in touch through to arrival.
Can I use it on a Total Fire Ban day?
No. Wood burning fireplaces, including this one, are not permitted on Total Fire Ban days in most Australian states and territories. If you want a fire that works regardless of fire bans, our EcoSmart bioethanol range is exempt in most areas. Check your local council or fire authority for the rules that apply to you.
Will the smoke bother my neighbours?
A well seasoned, dry hardwood fire produces relatively little smoke, but any wood fire produces some, and it can drift with the wind. If you're in a close set suburban block, it's worth considering your neighbours before lighting up, especially in the evening. Dry, well seasoned wood keeps smoke to a minimum.
