Talk to us

Otterbine build the floating aerators and fountains that sit on dams, lakes and large ponds. The distinction that matters: every unit is an aerating pump first, with the spray pattern wrapped around it. On water that goes green each summer, that is the difference between a decoration and a fix.

The range runs from a half-horsepower All-in-One for a small dam, through 1 to 5 HP aerating fountains in ten patterns, up to Giant Fountains that throw water 27 metres. Alongside them sit the units nobody sees: subsurface diffusers for deep water, aspirators and mixers for circulation without a display.

Sizing, in one line

Two horsepower per surface acre for water quality. From about 2.4 metres deep, put the air on the bottom rather than in the air. Everything else is what you want to look at.

Otterbine questions, answered

Who makes Otterbine?

Otterbine build floating aerators and fountains in the United States. Aquatec Equipment is the exclusive distributor for Australia and New Zealand, so the units, parts and warranty are supported onshore.

Why is there no price on Otterbine listings?

Otterbine is quoted per site. The unit, the pattern, the cable length, the freight and the electrical work all move the number, so a shelf price would be wrong more often than right. Tell us the water and we will put a full price in writing.

What size do I need?

Otterbine recommend 2 HP for every surface acre, about 0.4 hectares, when the goal is water quality. Depth matters as much as width: from about 2.4 metres down, subsurface diffusers do more than any fountain.

Can I install it myself?

No. These are not plug-in units. A licensed electrician supplies and installs the onshore isolator, RCD protection and the cable run to the water. Units supplied here run at 50 Hz, so they arrive without the Power Control Center.

What warranty do they carry?

Five years on the aerating fountains, with a pattern guarantee that swaps the pattern if it is not what you wanted. Giant Fountains carry four years, extended to five with the Sub-Monitor option. Industrial and subsurface units carry three.
