The owner's insights on the Stacked Slate Urn Fountain Kit

The urn shape does something a bowl cannot: it puts the water at eye level. In a courtyard, where you are usually looking across a space rather than down into it, that matters more than the size of the piece.

The two sizes are not the same product scaled. The Small at 85cm runs an Ultra 2100 pump into an AquaBasin 30. The Medium at 114cm steps up to an Ultra 4500 moving 4,200 litres an hour into a 370 litre AquaBasin 45. The Medium is noticeably louder, which is usually what people want when there is road noise to cover.

It is fibreglass-resin composite with a rock veneer, not cast stone. That is a genuine advantage here. Two people can position the Medium without machinery, where a real stone urn of that size would need a crane and a compacted footing.

Budget for pebble. It is not in the box. It hides the grate, so it is the difference between a finished feature and an obvious plastic lid in a garden bed.

How a self-contained fountain actually works

It is a closed loop with half of it buried. The same water circulates continuously. Nothing ever stands in an open pond, which is the whole point of the format.

  1. 1A reservoir goes in the groundYou dig a shallow hole and drop the basin in. It holds the water and carries the weight of the piece above it.
  2. 2The pump sits inside itOut of sight, out of the weather, and reachable through the lid whenever it needs a clean.
  3. 3Water rises through the featureUp a short length of tubing, then out over the stone.
  4. 4It drains straight back downThrough the pebble and into the reservoir. You top it up occasionally rather than plumbing it in.

Why you'll love the Stacked Slate Urn Fountain Kit

Nothing stands in open water

The reservoir is under a grate below ground level. There is no pond to fence, net or explain to a nervous grandparent.

It reads as stone

The veneer weathers rather than fading. Three years in it looks better than the day it arrived, which is not true of most composite garden pieces.

Two people can place it

No crane, no engineered footing. That keeps the install cost down and makes it possible to change your mind later.

The pump is reachable

Through the lid, in about a minute. The single most common maintenance job on any water feature is rinsing the pump intake.

It runs on very little

An Ultra 2100 draws roughly what a light globe does. Running it continuously is not a decision you have to think about.

Complete in one box

Feature, basin, pump, tubing and fittings. Nothing to work out, nothing to order separately.

Why you should consider an Aquascape water feature

Aquascape originated the pondless format and holds the Pondless® trademark. The Australian arm operates from Queensland with a certified installer network behind it. Order through My Acre and we will beat any genuine like-for-like price you find elsewhere. If a warranty question ever comes up, you are calling us directly, not an overseas call centre.

Not sure which one suits the spot?

Send us a photo of where it is going and the rough dimensions. We will tell you which piece works there and which one will not, before you spend anything.

Frequently asked questions

Is there any open water?

No. The only water you see is the film moving over the feature itself. Everything else sits below ground inside a sealed basin under a grate, so there is nothing for a child to step into.

Which size should I choose?

The Small at 85cm suits a courtyard or a narrow entry bed and gives a soft trickle. The Medium at 114cm has more than three times the reservoir and a pump moving 4,200 litres an hour, so it is both taller and audibly louder. Choose the Medium if you are covering road noise.

How loud is it?

A soft trickle rather than a roar. These are sized to mask traffic noise at conversational distance, not to be heard from inside the house. A taller drop makes more sound than a wider one.

How much pebble do I need?

Enough to cover the grate and blend it into the surrounding bed, usually one to two 20kg bags for the Small and two to three for the Medium. Match it to the stone already in your garden rather than buying something new.

How often do I top it up?

Through summer, roughly weekly. Evaporation is the only loss in a sealed system. A hot windy week takes more than a still one.

Does it need power?

Yes. The pump runs on mains power and needs a weatherproof outdoor power point within reach of the basin. Have a licensed electrician install one if you do not already have it.

Can I move it later?

Yes, which is one of the real advantages over a pond. Drain it, lift the feature, dig out the basin and start again somewhere else. People do take these with them when they sell.

Can I install it myself?

Most people can. It is a shallow excavation, a level base, one plumbing connection and a power point. If you would rather not, we can organise a certified installer or work with your own landscaper.

Review of Polito pizza ovens

I recently bought a Polito pizza oven from my acre. I was looking to replace an older outdated oven in my outdoor kitchen, which had started to fall apart after a few years cooking for the Boiz. I wasn't super stoked at first to spend this much on a pizza oven, but suppliers in NSW are hard to come by and Hayden was super helpful with organising getting it to me. I certainly wasn't upset when it arrived! I dont think I'll have to replace it any time soon

Reply from My Acre

Thankyou so much for the purchase & nice words Phil! So glad we could help!
