The owner's insights on the Stacked Slate Sphere Fountain Kit

A sphere behaves differently from an urn in a garden. It has no front. You can walk right around it and the water looks the same from every angle, which is why it works in the middle of a lawn or at the intersection of two paths where an urn would look like it was facing the wrong way.

The Medium at 81cm takes an Ultra 6000, the largest pump in the urn and sphere range. More flow over a curved surface means the water clings and sheets rather than breaking into a stream, which is the effect people are actually buying.

The Small at 61cm and 43kg is the practical one for a courtyard. The Medium at 80kg is a two-person lift and wants a properly compacted base under the basin, because a sphere that settles unevenly shows it immediately.

Lighting changes this piece more than any other in the range. Water sheeting over a lit sphere at night is the reason most people buy it. The lights are a separate purchase, so factor them in.

How a self-contained fountain actually works

It is a closed loop with half of it buried. The same water circulates continuously. Nothing ever stands in an open pond, which is the whole point of the format.

  1. 1A reservoir goes in the groundYou dig a shallow hole and drop the basin in. It holds the water and carries the weight of the piece above it.
  2. 2The pump sits inside itOut of sight, out of the weather, and reachable through the lid whenever it needs a clean.
  3. 3Water rises through the featureUp a short length of tubing, then out over the stone.
  4. 4It drains straight back downThrough the pebble and into the reservoir. You top it up occasionally rather than plumbing it in.

Why you'll love the Stacked Slate Sphere Fountain Kit

No front, no wrong angle

It works in the middle of a space. An urn has a face; a sphere does not, so you can place it where paths cross.

The water clings to the curve

Enough flow over a sphere gives you a moving skin rather than a visible trickle. It catches light across the whole surface.

Real rock texture

Stacked slate veneer that ages instead of fading. It does not read as a moulded garden ornament.

No open water

The basin is under a grate below ground. Nothing standing at ground level.

Reachable pump

Lift the grate and the pump is right there. Rinsing the intake takes a minute.

Complete kit

Sphere, basin, pump and plumbing arrive together, sized to each other.

Why you should consider an Aquascape water feature

Order through My Acre and we will beat any genuine like-for-like price you find elsewhere. If a warranty question ever comes up, you are calling us directly, not an overseas call centre.

Frequently asked questions

Is there any open water?

No. The only water you see is the film moving over the feature itself. Everything else sits below ground inside a sealed basin under a grate, so there is nothing for a child to step into.

Which size should I choose?

The Small at 61cm suits a courtyard or a garden bed and one person can manage it at 43kg. The Medium at 81cm runs an Ultra 6000 for a much fuller sheet of water, weighs about 80kg and wants two people plus a properly compacted base.

Is lighting included?

No. Aquascape LED spotlights are a separate purchase. On a sphere they make more difference than on any other piece in the range, so we would budget for them from the start rather than adding them later.

How loud is it?

A soft trickle rather than a roar. These are sized to mask traffic noise at conversational distance, not to be heard from inside the house. A taller drop makes more sound than a wider one.

How often do I top it up?

Through summer, roughly weekly. Evaporation is the only loss in a sealed system. A hot windy week takes more than a still one.

Does it need power?

Yes. The pump runs on mains power and needs a weatherproof outdoor power point within reach of the basin. Have a licensed electrician install one if you do not already have it.

Can I move it later?

Yes, which is one of the real advantages over a pond. Drain it, lift the feature, dig out the basin and start again somewhere else. People do take these with them when they sell.

Can I install it myself?

Most people can. It is a shallow excavation, a level base, one plumbing connection and a power point. If you would rather not, we can organise a certified installer or work with your own landscaper.

Review of Polito pizza ovens

I recently bought a Polito pizza oven from my acre. I was looking to replace an older outdated oven in my outdoor kitchen, which had started to fall apart after a few years cooking for the Boiz. I wasn't super stoked at first to spend this much on a pizza oven, but suppliers in NSW are hard to come by and Hayden was super helpful with organising getting it to me. I certainly wasn't upset when it arrived! I dont think I'll have to replace it any time soon

Reply from My Acre

Thankyou so much for the purchase & nice words Phil! So glad we could help!
