A louvre pergola (or opening-roof pergola) has adjustable roof blades you tilt open for sun and airflow or close for full rain cover, so one structure works across the year. Choose by whether you want manual or motorised control, the span you need to cover, and the engineering for your site, coastal builds need a heavier-rated system. A pergola with an adjustable roof of tilting blades, or louvres. Open them for sun and breeze, or close them for shade and rain cover, so the one structure suits changing weather across the year.
Yes. When closed, the louvre blades seal against each other and channel water into a concealed gutter and downpipes, so the space underneath stays dry. Open the blades again once the weather clears.
Motorised is more convenient for everyday use and can add a rain sensor that closes the roof automatically; manual costs less and is simple and reliable. If you will adjust the roof often, motorised earns its keep; for occasional use, manual is fine.
For year-round outdoor living, yes. A fixed roof commits you to shade or sun; a louvre roof lets you tune light, heat and rain cover on demand, which extends how much of the year the space is usable. It is a considered investment in an architect-quality outdoor room.
