e-NRG Bioethanol Fuel: cost, quantity and which to use

Use e-NRG (from $265.00 for 2 cartons, 40 litres) as the fuel for any EcoSmart or certified bioethanol burner: it is 96 to 97 per cent pure and works out at roughly $6.63 per litre delivered, falling to $6.00 per litre when you order 10 cartons (200 litres). Each carton is 20 litres, and one 5-litre fill gives about 7 to 14 hours of flame.

e-NRG is the premium liquid bioethanol that architectural fireplaces and fire pits run on: 96 to 97 per cent pure, bottled in Australia, and certified for EcoSmart burners. It suits anyone running a ventless fireplace or fire pit indoors or out, where no smoke, soot or ash is acceptable.

Which to choose

This collection ranges a single fuel, so the choice is how much to order. Each carton is 20 litres (4 × 5 L bottles); the effective rate falls as volume rises.

ModelPrice fromOrder sizeBest for
e-NRG BioEthanol Fuel From $265.00 2–10 cartons (40–200 L) Ongoing supply for any EcoSmart or certified bioethanol burner

Choose by usage: occasional or single-burner use, order 2 cartons (40 L) from $265.00; regular use across a season, order deeper to bring the rate down to $6.00 per litre at 10 cartons (200 L). Purity, carton and bottle format are identical at every order size, so buying deeper only lowers the per-litre and per-litre freight cost.

Delivery is included and priced by postcode, working out at roughly $6.63 per litre at 2 cartons down to $6.00 per litre at 10. See the product page for the full carton price ladder.

Frequently asked questions

What is e-NRG bioethanol fuel?

e-NRG is a premium-grade liquid bioethanol, 96 to 97 per cent pure, made from renewable plant material and bottled in Australia. It powers ventless fireplaces and fire pits, burning to only heat, water vapour and carbon dioxide, with no smoke, soot or ash.

Which bioethanol fuel should I use in an EcoSmart burner?

Use e-NRG. It is the only fuel tested with and certified for EcoSmart burners as a complete system, so it is what the burner warranty is written around. Cheaper or generic fuels (methylated spirits, isopropyl, gel fuels, untested supermarket bioethanol) can burn faster or dirtier, carry odours, and void the burner warranty.

How much does e-NRG cost per litre?

e-NRG works out at roughly $6.63 per litre delivered at 2 cartons (40 litres), falling to $6.00 per litre at 10 cartons (200 litres). Delivery is included and priced by postcode, and buying deeper lowers both the per-litre and the per-litre freight cost. An order starts from $265.00 for 2 cartons.

How much does a bioethanol fire cost to run per hour?

Most residential burners cost roughly $2 to $6 per hour at full flame, and up to about $7 per hour for the largest AB8 burner. As worked examples at about $6.25 per litre, a Mix 600 is around $1.90 per hour, a Linear 50 around $5, and a Pod 30 or Manhattan 50 around $6.90; a low flame cuts fuel and cost by 30 to 50 per cent.

How long does a 20-litre carton of e-NRG last?

A single 5-litre fill gives roughly 7 to 14 hours of flame depending on the burner and flame setting, so a 20-litre carton covers several full refills. A compact Mix 600 stretches much further than a large AB8; check the burn time on your burner's product page.

Can you use bioethanol fuel indoors?

Yes. Because bioethanol burns flueless with no smoke, soot or ash, e-NRG can be used indoors in a certified burner. Indoor use needs adequate ventilation and, on EcoSmart burners, the correct indoor parts fitted; keep a working smoke alarm and a suitable extinguisher in the room.

Is bioethanol fuel safe to use?

Yes, when handled correctly. Never refuel a burner that is lit or still hot: shut it down and let it cool for at least 60 minutes, use the supplied jerry can and flame-arrester spout, do not fill past the MAX line, and wipe up any spill before relighting. Indoors, keep adequate ventilation, a working smoke alarm and a suitable extinguisher in the room.

Why is the fuel shipped separately from my fireplace?

Bioethanol is classified as dangerous goods at volume, so it moves under its own compliant freight rather than travelling with a fireplace. Order both together and the fuel simply arrives as a separate consignment.
