How to choose an ethanol fire pit kit

Choose by flame shape and length. For a round or square courtyard table, the Round 20 or Square 22 (both from $2,095) take an 8 L AB8 burner. For a bench or long table, the Linear kits scale from the 1.2 m Linear 50 (from $3,995) to the 3.4 m Linear 130 (from $12,895).

A fire pit kit is a self-contained ethanol burner you build into your own surround, so you get a real flame with no gas line, no flue and no wood smoke. Choose by flame shape (round, square or linear), the size and heat you want, and the build it drops into. EcoSmart kits run from the compact Round 20 to a 130 linear, all burning clean e-NRG bioethanol.

What comes in a fire pit kit

EcoSmart supply the Grade 304 stainless burner in a high-temperature coated stainless tray, a 5 L jerry can, a fire lighter, a lighting rod, a bottle adaptor and black glass charcoal. The Linear kits add XL baffles. A fire screen, cover plate (Round, Square, Linear 50 and 65) and burner cover are optional extras. The surround is yours to build.

Building the surround

EcoSmart specify a non-combustible surround, such as stone or concrete, around the kit, with the clearances in their installation manual. Give your builder the manual before the cut-out is made; the product page lists the exact tray dimensions. Our free spec sheet guide below this page gathers the numbers a builder asks for.

A fire pit kit is a burner that sits flush in a table or bench. An outdoor fireplace kit is a wood-burning fireplace with a full-height chimney that you assemble on site. Kits run from $2,095 for the Round 20 and Square 22 to $12,895 for the Linear 130. Delivery is free Australia-wide and every EcoSmart fire has a 30 day home trial. We will beat any genuine lower price from an Australian stockist. Warranty follows EcoSmart's policy: 2 years on the burner and stainless housing, 1 year on the glass media. What is a fire pit kit?

A burner and tray you build into your own fire pit, bench or table surround, rather than a finished freestanding unit. It gives you a real flame designed into your own build, with no gas line, flue or wood to store.

Can you build a fire pit kit into a table or bench?

Yes, that is what the kits are made for. The tray drops into a cut-out in a non-combustible surround such as stone or concrete, following the clearances in EcoSmart's installation manual. Keep to the specified materials and gaps.

What fuel does an ethanol fire pit kit use?

Bioethanol: e-NRG, the fuel EcoSmart formulate and test for their burners (see e-NRG bioethanol fuel). At $6.30 to $6.88 a litre delivered, an AB8 kit costs about $7 to $7.60 an hour at full flame.

Can a fire pit kit be used indoors?

EcoSmart list every kit as indoor or outdoor. The Round 20 and Square 22 need the Indoor Safety Tray and Efficiency Ring indoors. EcoSmart do not name the parts for the Linear kits, so call us before you plan one inside.

Do ethanol fire pit kits give off heat?

Yes. EcoSmart rate the single-burner kits to warm about 60 m², the Linear 90 about 120 m² and the Linear 130 about 180 m². It is radiant warmth for the seating around it rather than whole-yard heating.
