Built-In Kit, Not Freestanding
The Square 22 drops into a cut-out in a custom-built surround. The opening must match the tray footprint of 622 x 622 mm. The tray sits flush or just below the finished surface level for a clean, built-in look.
Indoor and Outdoor Rated
Select Indoor or Outdoor at purchase. The Indoor variant requires the minimum room volume stated in the installation manual. Both use the same tray and AB8 burner.
Mild Steel Tray with Toughened Glass
The tray body is mild steel with a high-temperature coating. Glass panels are toughened for sustained heat exposure in outdoor conditions. Both materials hold their finish over years of regular use.
16.9 kg, Easy to Position
At 16.9 kg the tray is manageable for two people during installation. Unlike the larger Linear kits, no special load engineering is required for standard concrete or stone surrounds.
Black Glass Fire Media Included
Black glass rocks are included with the kit. They fill the tray around the burner housing so the flame appears to rise from the glass surface rather than from a visible burner. Clean and simple to lay in place.
Heats Up to 60 m²
The AB8 burner produces enough warmth to make a 60 m² outdoor lounge or covered terrace comfortable on a cool evening. Suitable for four to eight people seated around the table.

What is the opening size required for the Square 22?
The tray footprint is 622 x 622 mm and 198 mm deep. The cut-out in the surround must match these external dimensions. The tray sits into the opening and rests on a ledge or support frame built into the surround structure. Refer to the installation manual for exact clearance requirements.
How does the Square 22 compare to the Round 20?
Both use the same AB8 burner with 6 kW output, 8 L capacity and a 7 to 9 hour burn time. The Square 22 is 622 x 622 mm and suits square table formats and symmetrical surround designs. The Round 20 is 630 mm in diameter and suits circular tables and curved surround forms. Choose the shape that fits the surround design.
Can it be used indoors?
Yes, with the Indoor variant selected at purchase. The installation manual specifies the minimum room volume required for the AB8 burner at 6 kW. If the room does not meet this requirement, use the Outdoor variant in a well-ventilated covered setting instead.
Does it need any gas or electrical connection?
No. The Square 22 runs entirely on liquid bioethanol poured directly into the burner. No gas connection, no power supply and no fixed fuel lines. The only requirement is a supply of denatured bioethanol and access to refill the burner when it runs low.
What materials suit the surround?
Concrete, natural stone, porcelain tile, powder-coated steel and treated hardwood all work with the Square 22. The EcoSmart clearances guide specifies the minimum setback distances from both combustible and non-combustible materials. At 16.9 kg the tray weight is manageable for standard surround construction.
Is bioethanol fuel available in Australia?
Yes. Denatured bioethanol for fireplaces is available from My Acre and from hardware and specialty stores across Australia. Use only fuel rated for indoor bioethanol fireplace use. Standard methylated spirits is not the same product and should not be used.
