The owner's insights on the Scalloped Urn Fountain Kit

This is the formal option in the range. Where the stacked slate reads as rock, the scalloped urn reads as glazed ceramic, so it sits better against rendered walls, clipped hedging and pool surrounds than it does in a native garden.

The scalloped profile is doing real work rather than decoration. Water rising through the centre spreads across the ridges instead of running down one face, so the whole surface moves. That gives you an even sheet rather than a single visible stream.

The Small at 81cm is the lightest piece we sell at 18kg, which makes it the one to choose if the position is awkward: up steps, through a side gate, onto a balcony. The Medium at 114cm needs the larger AquaBasin 45 and an Ultra 4500 behind it.

It is fibreglass-resin composite finished to look like ceramic. That is deliberate. Real glazed ceramic at this size cracks when water freezes in it; it also does not survive being knocked.

How a self-contained fountain actually works

It is a closed loop with half of it buried. The same water circulates continuously. Nothing ever stands in an open pond, which is the whole point of the format.

  1. 1A reservoir goes in the groundYou dig a shallow hole and drop the basin in. It holds the water and carries the weight of the piece above it.
  2. 2The pump sits inside itOut of sight, out of the weather, and reachable through the lid whenever it needs a clean.
  3. 3Water rises through the featureUp a short length of tubing, then out over the stone.
  4. 4It drains straight back downThrough the pebble and into the reservoir. You top it up occasionally rather than plumbing it in.

Why you'll love the Scalloped Urn Fountain Kit

A formal look without the fragility

It reads as glazed ceramic. It does not chip when a mower clips it or crack in a frost the way real ceramic does.

The whole surface moves

The scallops spread the water across the profile instead of letting it run down one side. It catches light along the entire face.

The Small is genuinely portable

At 18kg one person can carry it. That opens up positions no cast piece could reach.

No open water

The reservoir sits below a grate. Nothing at ground level for a child to reach.

Quiet by design

A sheeting fountain is softer than a spilling one. This is the choice for a courtyard you actually sit in.

Everything in one box

Urn, basin, pump, tubing and fittings, matched to each other before it ships.

Why you should consider an Aquascape water feature

Aquascape originated the pondless format and holds the Pondless® trademark. The Australian arm operates from Queensland with a certified installer network behind it. Order through My Acre and we will beat any genuine like-for-like price you find elsewhere. If a warranty question ever comes up, you are calling us directly, not an overseas call centre.

What is included and what you supply

Everything that makes it run is in the box. The pebble that finishes it is not.

In the box:

  • Scalloped Urn in the size selected
  • Sub-surface basin with grate
  • Ultra water pump sized to the urn
  • Fountain tubing and fittings
  • Installation instructions

You supply:

  • Decorative pebble to dress the top of the reservoir

  • The excavation, which is shallow compared with a pond
  • A level, compacted base under the basin

Frequently asked questions

Is there any open water?

No. The only water you see is the film moving over the feature itself. Everything else sits below ground inside a sealed basin under a grate, so there is nothing for a child to step into.

How is this different from the Stacked Slate Urn?

Appearance and sound. The scalloped urn reads as glazed ceramic and sheets water evenly across its profile, which is softer and more formal. The stacked slate reads as rock and spills more visibly. They use the same basins and pumps, so the choice is purely about the look you want.

How loud is it?

A soft trickle rather than a roar. These are sized to mask traffic noise at conversational distance, not to be heard from inside the house. A taller drop makes more sound than a wider one.

Will the finish fade in Australian sun?

Aquascape rate the finish as fade and chip resistant. It is a through-coloured composite rather than a surface glaze, so it does not craze the way fired ceramic can.

How often do I top it up?

Through summer, roughly weekly. Evaporation is the only loss in a sealed system. A hot windy week takes more than a still one.

Does it need power?

Yes. The pump runs on mains power and needs a weatherproof outdoor power point within reach of the basin. Have a licensed electrician install one if you do not already have it.

Can I move it later?

Yes, which is one of the real advantages over a pond. Drain it, lift the feature, dig out the basin and start again somewhere else. People do take these with them when they sell.

Can I install it myself?

Most people can. It is a shallow excavation, a level base, one plumbing connection and a power point. If you would rather not, we can organise a certified installer or work with your own landscaper.

Review of Polito pizza ovens

I recently bought a Polito pizza oven from my acre. I was looking to replace an older outdated oven in my outdoor kitchen, which had started to fall apart after a few years cooking for the Boiz. I wasn't super stoked at first to spend this much on a pizza oven, but suppliers in NSW are hard to come by and Hayden was super helpful with organising getting it to me. I certainly wasn't upset when it arrived! I dont think I'll have to replace it any time soon

Reply from My Acre

Thankyou so much for the purchase & nice words Phil! So glad we could help!
