Rainwater tank pumps
Tank water has very little pressure of its own. A pump gives you the pressure to run toilets, a laundry and garden taps from your tank. The kits here pair a pump with a changeover valve, so the house switches to mains water automatically when the tank runs low or the power fails.

Rainsaver MK6 Rainwater Pump Kit
View product
Start with where the pump will sit. A surface pump stands beside the tank, which makes it easy to reach. A submersible pump sits inside the tank, so nothing stands beside it, but the tank must be deep enough to hold it. Then choose the valve: the Rainsaver MK6 limits pressure to 200 kPa. The AcquaSaver is solid brass with no electronics. If you already own a pump, the changeover valves are sold on their own.
These pumps suit clean water, so your tank still needs an inlet strainer and a first flush device. A licensed plumber should connect any kit. Tell us your tank depth and the taps you want on rainwater. We will match the pump.
Rainwater tank pump questions, answered
Do I need a pump to use rainwater in the house?
Almost always. Tank water has little pressure of its own, so a pump supplies the pressure at toilets, the laundry and taps. A tank set well above the house may need less, so tell us your layout.
What does a changeover valve do?
It switches the house to mains water automatically when the tank runs low or the power fails. Your taps keep running. You do not have to do anything.
Should I choose a surface pump or a submersible pump?
A surface pump sits beside the tank and is easy to service. A submersible pump sits inside the tank and keeps the site tidy, but it needs enough water depth to cover it. Check your tank depth against the pump's rated depth.
How do I size a rainwater pump?
Size for the taps that run at the same time, not for every tap in the house. Count the toilets, laundry and garden taps you want on tank water, then check the pump's flow at your pressure. Call us if you want it checked.
Do I need a licensed plumber?
Yes. Plumbing connections for these kits should be done by a licensed plumber. Your water authority may also require backflow protection, so check the rules for your area.
