The Perisher is the largest fireplace in the Ochre Living range. It's built to prove it: stand in front of a lit one and you notice the scale straight away.
The firebox opens 1,180 mm wide, wide enough to lay full-length hardwood logs across it rather than cutting them down to fit your fire. Once the fire takes hold, the pumice walls hold that heat in the chest and throw it out across your entertaining area, while the outer render stays cool enough for you to lean against.
We tend to place it in large backyards and wraparound patios, anywhere your fire needs to hold its own against the space around it. It isn't the right choice for a tight courtyard; the Hotham or Ossa suit that better.
Delivery arrives on two pallets, so plan for a driveway your delivery truck can reach, or a few extra hands to help you on the day.

Frequently asked questions
How does the Perisher compare to the Hotham and Ossa?
The Perisher is the largest of the three at 1,330 mm wide, with the biggest firebox and the strongest heat. The Hotham is 1,090 mm wide. The Ossa is the most compact at 685 mm. All three share the same pumice build and five-year warranty.
Can you cook on the Perisher?
Yes, with the optional cast iron cooking grill. It sits across the firebox once the fire has settled to coals. Add a pizza stone on top and you can cook pizza too. Both are sold separately.
What base does the Perisher need?
A reinforced concrete slab at least 100 mm thick, sized 150 mm wider than the fireplace on every side. It needs to be level and able to carry 1,100 kg, whether that's an existing slab or a new pour.
How close to the house or a boundary can the Perisher go?
Build it freestanding, raised on a plinth, or hard against a wall, keeping at least 75 mm clear of anything combustible. Exact boundary setbacks vary by council, so check your local requirements before you settle on a position.
How hard is the Perisher to install?
It's designed for owner installation. The pumice blocks are lightweight for their size and join with the supplied adhesive, no specialist tools needed. Ochre Living's own guide allows about 1.5 hours for the body, 1 to 2 for firebricks and 2 for rendering, then 72 hours to cure before the first fire.
Can the chimney be made taller?
Yes. Additional 300 mm chimney blocks stack onto the standard flue to add height, which improves draw in a sheltered or covered spot where the standard height might not pull smoke away as cleanly.
How is the Perisher delivered?
Palletised freight, generally on two pallets given its size. Delivery is quoted at checkout based on your postcode, to your door or a commercial depot. A forklift or similar receiving capability is worth arranging given the weight.
What does the five-year warranty cover?
Major structural cracks caused by a manufacturing defect that stops the Perisher being used as intended. It excludes consumables like firebricks and the cooking grill, damage from excessive heat or overloading, and normal hairline cracking, which is common in masonry over time.
