Large Modular Outdoor Wood Fireplace Kit in Volcanic Pumice with Full-Height Chimney
The Ochre Living Perisher Complete Fireplace Kit is the largest model in the Ochre Living range. At 1,330 mm wide and 2,250 mm tall, it creates a full architectural presence in outdoor entertaining areas, courtyards and garden settings. Constructed from natural pumice sourced from Iceland's Hekla Volcano, the modular kit assembles without specialist tools and arrives with all core materials included. Wood-burning with a substantial firebox opening of 1,180 mm wide, it delivers genuine radiant heat alongside a visual anchor for the outdoor space. Five-year warranty.
Perfect For
- Large outdoor entertaining areas, courtyards and garden settings where a substantial fireplace focal point is the priority
- Buyers who want the look and heat of a masonry fireplace without commissioning a custom build from scratch
- Covered patios and alfresco rooms where height, chimney draw and architectural presence matter
- Outdoor dining and lounge settings where wood-fire cooking is also on the agenda with the optional grill accessory
Why You'll Love This
The Largest in the Range
At 1,330 mm wide and 2,250 mm tall, the Perisher occupies the space a masonry fireplace would without the cost of a custom build. The 1,180 mm firebox opening produces serious radiant heat and a large, visible flame from across the outdoor area.
Hekla Volcano Pumice
The blocks are natural volcanic pumice from Iceland's Hekla Volcano. Pumice is a highly insulating material that holds heat within the firebox wall, helping the fire burn hot while keeping the external render from overheating. It also stays light relative to concrete for a structure of this size.
Modular Kit, All Materials Included
The kit arrives with pumice blocks, pre-cut firebricks, fire brick mortar, lip glue adhesive, render, a log retainer kit and chimney components. The modular format is designed to assemble with the supplied instructions, and can be finished with an owner-applied render coat.
Freestanding or Wall-Mounted
The fully load-bearing structure can be positioned freestanding in an open area, raised on a plinth, or built against a wall depending on the design of the outdoor space. The chimney height can be extended further with additional chimney blocks if needed.
Features
1,180 mm Firebox Opening
The wide firebox opening accommodates full-length firewood and produces a broad, visible flame. At 515 mm deep and 720 mm tall, there is enough room for a serious fire while the pumice walls retain and radiate heat outward into the space.
Full-Height Chimney to 2,250 mm
The chimney rises to 2,250 mm as standard. Extension blocks are available to increase height further, which is useful for improving draw in sheltered or covered locations. A rain cap is available to protect the flue between uses.
Pre-Cut Firebricks Included
The firebox is lined with pre-cut firebricks and Calderys fire brick mortar, both supplied in the kit. The firebrick lining handles the direct heat exposure and protects the pumice structure behind it over long-term use.
Optional Cooking Grill
A cooking grill is available as an optional accessory. It sits within the firebox once the fire has settled to coals, making the Perisher capable of outdoor cooking as well as ambient heating.
Render-Ready Surface
Two bags of render are included in the kit. Once applied, the exterior can be finished in the colour and texture of your choice. The pumice block surface accepts render well, and the result is a clean, low-maintenance outdoor finish that holds up in Australian weather.
5-Year Warranty
The Perisher carries a 5-year warranty covering major structural cracks caused by manufacturing defects that prevent intended use. Normal hairline cracking and wear from regular use are not covered under the warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the Perisher compare to the Hotham?
The Perisher is the larger model. Its overall width is 1,330 mm versus the Hotham's 1,090 mm, and its firebox opening is 1,180 mm wide versus the Hotham's 940 mm. The overall height is the same at 2,250 mm. The Perisher suits larger outdoor areas and buyers who want a stronger architectural presence. The Hotham is better suited to more compact layouts.
Does it need a professional to assemble?
The modular pumice format is designed with DIY assembly in mind and comes with detailed installation instructions. Many buyers complete the build themselves. Professional installation is also an option depending on project requirements. Note that local council requirements and site compliance are the purchaser's responsibility.
What is the render included in the kit?
Two bags of Ochre Living exterior render are included. This is applied over the assembled pumice block structure to create a smooth, finished exterior surface. The render can be left in its natural colour or painted. Additional render bags are available separately if a thicker or textured finish is preferred.
Can the chimney be made taller?
Yes. The Ochre Living Additional Chimney Blocks are available separately and stack on top of the standard chimney to increase height. This is useful for improving draw in covered or sheltered locations where the standard height may not provide enough pull to the flue.
How is it delivered?
The Perisher arrives palletised, generally on two pallets depending on accessories ordered. Delivery is to door or commercial depot. Shipping costs are calculated via the product page shipping calculator. A forklift or suitable receiving capability is recommended for this size and weight.
What does the 5-year warranty cover?
The warranty covers major structural cracks caused by manufacturing defects that prevent the fireplace from being used as intended. It does not cover consumable parts, damage from excessive heat or overloading, accidental damage, or normal hairline cracking that can occur in masonry products over time.
