Fireplace and Grill in One Kit

The Ossa includes a barbecue grill and log retainer as part of the kit. Once the fire has settled to coals, the grill positions across the firebox opening for direct wood-fire cooking. No separate BBQ needed in the outdoor space.

Compact at 685 mm Wide

The Ossa's 685 mm width fits where the Hotham and Perisher would not. At 460 kg it is also the lightest of the three, which reduces structural load requirements for the surface it sits on. It still reaches 2,155 mm tall with a proper chimney line.

Hekla Volcano Pumice

All three Ochre Living fireplaces are built from the same Icelandic volcanic pumice. Pumice is a highly insulating material that holds heat inside the firebox wall and radiates it out, while staying cooler on the exterior than concrete alternatives of equivalent thickness.

Expandable with Accessories

Optional accessories including the Side Log Store Ossa, chimney extension blocks and rain cap can be added at purchase or later. The side log store integrates with the fireplace design to add built-in wood storage alongside the firebox.

510 mm Firebox with Built-In Grill

The firebox opening is 510 mm wide, 340 mm deep and 540 mm tall. The barbecue grill sits across this opening once the fire has reduced to cooking coals. The log retainer holds the fire configuration in place while cooking.

Full-Height Chimney to 2,155 mm

The chimney reaches 2,155 mm as standard. Extension blocks are available to increase height, which is particularly useful for the Ossa's compact format in sheltered spots where draw may be limited at standard height.

Simple Modular Assembly

The Ossa is the most straightforward kit in the range to assemble. At 460 kg it does not require heavy-lift equipment for placement on a prepared surface. Step-by-step installation instructions are included and the kit format means no specialist tools are needed.

Freestanding or Against a Wall

The load-bearing structure can be positioned freestanding in the open or against a wall. The slim 440 mm depth allows it to sit close to boundary walls or fences within safe clearance distances.

Render-Ready Exterior

Once assembled, the pumice block structure is ready for a render coat. The finish can match surrounding walls, paving or fence colours. Ochre Living exterior render is available separately if additional bags are needed for texture or thickness.

5-Year Warranty

The Ossa carries a 5-year warranty covering major structural cracks caused by manufacturing defects that prevent intended use. Normal hairline cracking, consumable parts and damage from excessive heat are not covered.

How does the Ossa differ from the Hotham and Perisher?

The Ossa is the most compact of the three at 685 mm wide, 440 mm deep and 2,155 mm tall, versus the Hotham at 1,090 mm wide and the Perisher at 1,330 mm wide. The Ossa also includes a barbecue grill as standard, which the Hotham and Perisher offer as an optional extra. It is the best fit for smaller spaces and buyers who want cooking capability from day one.

Is the barbecue grill easy to use?

Yes. Once the fire has burned down to a good coal base, the grill positions across the firebox opening for direct cooking. The log retainer keeps the fire configuration stable while the grill is in use. It is a practical open-fire cooking setup rather than a temperature-controlled BBQ.

Does it need a slab or foundation?

The Ossa at 460 kg should be placed on a level, stable surface capable of bearing its weight. An existing concrete slab or prepared paving is typically sufficient for the Ossa. Local council requirements and site compliance remain the purchaser's responsibility.

Can a side log store be added later?

Yes. The Ochre Living Side Log Store Ossa is designed specifically for this model and integrates with the fireplace to create a dedicated built-in firewood storage area beside the firebox. It is available separately and can be ordered with the kit or added at a later stage.

Is it suitable for a covered patio or pergola?

Covered installations are possible. Adding chimney extension blocks is recommended for sheltered locations to improve draw and ensure the smoke exits the flue reliably. A rain cap also helps protect the chimney from water entry when not in use.

What does the 5-year warranty cover?

The warranty covers major structural cracks caused by manufacturing defects that prevent the fireplace from functioning as intended. It does not cover consumable parts, damage from excessive heat or overloading, accidental damage, or normal hairline cracking in masonry products over time.
