The Ossa is the most compact fireplace in the Ochre Living range. Once the fire settles to coals, the optional collapsible cooking grid sits across the 510 mm firebox opening, so you can cook straight over the wood rather than lighting a separate barbecue.
We see it go into courtyards, deck corners and smaller entertaining areas, where the wider Hotham and Perisher take up more room than you have to give. At 685 mm wide and 460 kg, it's the easiest of the three to fit into your space, though the trade-off is a smaller flame and less heat than you'd get from its bigger siblings. If you want the biggest possible fire, look at the Perisher instead.
Delivery generally arrives on a single pallet, easy for you to receive and build from the supplied instructions.

A collapsible cooking grid, concrete top cap, rain cap, additional chimney blocks and a side log store are available as optional extras.
What you see in the photos. The under log store is part of the Ossa design. The benches in some frames are Side Log Stores, chosen with the Configuration option above. The grid resting across the firebox in two frames is the Collapsible Cooking Grid, a separate accessory. The stone cladding and the patterned render are owner-applied finishes, not options we supply.

How does the Ossa compare to the Hotham and Perisher?
The Ossa is the most compact of the three at 685 mm wide, with the smallest firebox at 510 mm. The Hotham and Perisher are larger, at 1,090 mm and 1,330 mm, with wider fireboxes to match. All three share the same pumice build and five-year warranty.
Can you cook on the Ossa?
Yes, with the optional collapsible cooking grid. Once the fire settles to coals it sits across the firebox for cooking straight over the wood. Add a pizza stone on top and you can cook pizza too.
What base does the Ossa need?
A reinforced concrete slab at least 100 mm thick, sized 150 mm wider than the fireplace on every side. It needs to be level and able to carry 460 kg, whether that's an existing slab or a new pour.
How close to the house or a boundary can the Ossa go?
Build it freestanding, raised, or hard against a wall, keeping at least 100 mm clear of anything combustible, a little more than the larger models thanks to its slimmer 440 mm depth. Exact boundary setbacks vary by council, so check your local requirements first.
How hard is the Ossa to install?
It's designed for owner installation. The pumice blocks are lightweight for their size and join with the supplied adhesive, no specialist tools needed. Ochre Living's own guide allows about 1.5 hours for the body, 1 to 2 for firebricks and 2 for rendering, then 72 hours to cure before the first fire.
Can I add a log store to the Ossa later?
Yes. The Ochre Living side log store built for the Ossa bolts on beside the firebox. It can be added at the time of purchase or afterwards, giving you dedicated, built-in firewood storage without changing the fireplace itself.
How is the Ossa delivered?
Palletised freight, generally on a single pallet given its size. Delivery is quoted at checkout based on your postcode, to your door or a commercial depot.
What does the five-year warranty cover?
Major structural cracks caused by a manufacturing defect that stops the Ossa being used as intended. It excludes consumables like firebricks and the cooking grid, damage from excessive heat or overloading, and normal hairline cracking, which is common in masonry over time.
