A fireplace and a barbecue in one
Once the fire settles to coals, the stainless grill sits across the 510 mm firebox for cooking straight over the wood. Add a pizza stone on the grill for outdoor pizza.

At 685 mm wide and 440 mm deep it tucks into tighter spaces. The 2,155 mm chimney still gives a proper draw and a real fireplace silhouette. Build freestanding or hard against a wall.

Fitting it in
The Ossa is 685 mm wide, 440 mm deep, 2,155 mm tall and 460 kg built. It beds onto a reinforced concrete slab at least 100 mm thick, 150 mm past the fireplace on all four sides. An existing patio slab or a purpose poured pad both work.
Build it freestanding, raised, or hard against a wall. Keep at least 100 mm clear of combustibles. The chimney can be raised later in 300 mm blocks for sheltered spots that need more draw. Allow 72 hours to cure before the first fire.

What is the difference between the Ossa, Hotham and Perisher?
The Ossa is the most compact at 685 mm wide (Hotham 1,090 mm, Perisher 1,330 mm). It is also the only model with a barbecue grill included as standard. Choose the Ossa for smaller spaces and cooking from day one.
Can you cook on the Ossa?
Yes. A stainless steel cooking grill and log retainer come as standard. Once the fire burns to coals, the grill sits across the firebox for cooking straight over the wood. Add a pizza stone for pizza.
What base does the Ossa need?
A reinforced concrete slab at least 100 mm thick, 150 mm past the fireplace on all four sides. An existing patio slab or a purpose poured pad both work, provided it is level and can carry 460 kg.
How close to the house or a fence can it go?
Freestanding, raised, or hard against a wall. Keep at least 100 mm clear of combustibles. Its slim 440 mm depth sits close to boundary walls within that clearance.
How hard is it to install?
Designed for owner installation. The pumice blocks are lightweight and join with the supplied adhesive, no specialist tools. As a guide, one customer built the body in about 1.5 hours, firebricks in 1 to 2 hours and rendering in about 2 hours. Allow 72 hours to cure before the first fire.
Can I make the chimney taller?
Yes. Additional chimney blocks come in 300 mm increments. Extra height helps draw in sheltered or covered spots where the standard height may not pull smoke away cleanly.
What does the five year warranty cover?
Major structural cracks caused by a manufacturing defect that prevents normal use. Excludes consumables (firebricks, cooking grill, log retainer), damage from excessive heat or overloading, accidental damage after rendering, and normal hairline cracking. See our warranty page for full terms.
Do I need a council permit?
Usually no permit is required, but rules vary by area. Check with your local council or shire before you install; compliance remains the owner's responsibility.
Can I use it on a Total Fire Ban day?
No. Wood burning fireplaces, including this one, are not permitted on Total Fire Ban days in most Australian states and territories. If you want a fire that works regardless of fire bans, our EcoSmart bioethanol range is exempt in most areas. Check your local council or fire authority for the rules that apply to you.
Will the smoke bother my neighbours?
A well seasoned, dry hardwood fire produces relatively little smoke, but any wood fire produces some, and it can drift with the wind. If you're in a close set suburban block, it's worth considering your neighbours before lighting up, especially in the evening. Dry, well seasoned wood keeps smoke to a minimum.
