Can the Pod 40 be used indoors?
Yes, the Pod 40 is rated for indoor or outdoor use because e-NRG bioethanol burns cleanly with no smoke, soot or ash and needs no flue. Indoor use requires a room of at least 116 m³, plus the Indoor Safety Tray and AB8 Efficiency Ring fitted to meet EN 16647. A working smoke alarm and extinguisher are recommended.
How large an area does the Pod 40 heat?
The AB8 burner produces 6 kW (21.56 MJ/h) and heats an average of 60 m². Bioethanol is flueless, so the heat stays in the space. Treat it as zone or supplemental heating and a focal point, not primary whole-home heating.
How long does the Pod 40 burn on one fill?
The 8 L AB8 burner runs for 7 to 9 hours on a full tank at maximum flame. Turning the flame down extends that considerably, since a lower setting uses 30 to 50 per cent less fuel.
Does the Pod 40 need professional installation?
No, the Pod 40 is freestanding and self-contained with no gas, plumbing or electrical connection. Level it on its 360-degree articulating feet, fill the AB8 burner and light it with the fire lighter and rod. It can be repositioned at any time.
Can I use any bioethanol in the Pod 40?
The Pod 40 runs on e-NRG bioethanol, the only fuel EcoSmart tests with and recommends. Other fuels such as methylated or denatured spirits, gel fuels or untested supermarket bioethanol can be unsafe and void the warranty. e-NRG is a renewable 96 to 97 per cent ethanol that burns to heat, water vapour and CO2 only.
