The owner's insights on the Base 40
The Base 40 is the square all-rounder in EcoSmart's fire table range. A 1,000 mm cast Fluid Concrete or Teak surround wraps the AB8 burner, so the same piece works as your coffee table and your fire.
We place it in lounges, covered patios, poolside decks and courtyards, wherever the fire needs to sit in the middle of the seating rather than run along one side. Add the Indoor Safety Tray and it moves inside for winter too, in any room of at least 116 m³ with some ventilation.
It isn't the right shape for every room, though. If your seating runs in a line along a sofa, the rectangular Manhattan 50 suits that better than a square centrepiece. If you want a larger, more sculptural table as the centrepiece of a bigger entertaining area, the Cosmo 50 is the step up.
Fuel is e-NRG bioethanol, sold separately at around $6 to $6.60 a litre delivered; the AB8 burns about 1.1 L an hour, so a fill runs 7 to 9 hours. At 67.7 kg in concrete or 54.9 kg in teak, it's a two-person job to position. There's no gas line or trade booking involved.

1,000 mm square by 339 mm tall. 67.7 kg in concrete or 54.9 kg in teak, so two people set it in place. Once positioned, 360° articulating feet level it on paving, decking or lawn without tools. No gas, plumbing or power to plan. Outdoors, allow 1,000 mm clear of combustibles. Indoors, add the Indoor Safety Tray with the included AB8 Efficiency Ring, in a room of at least 116 m³ with ventilation.

What is the difference between the Base 40 and the Manhattan 50?
Same AB8 burner and 6 kW output. The Base 40 is a 1,000 mm square coffee table proportion. The Manhattan 50 is rectangular, with a long, low flame that suits a sofa line. Pick the Base 40 for square lounge centres; the Manhattan 50 for long seating.
What is Fluid Concrete?
Fluid Concrete is EcoSmart's cast composite: green cement mixed with 95% recycled natural materials. It absorbs CO2 during curing, making it carbon negative, and is 100% recyclable at end of life. It resists scratches, staining, mould and mildew.
Does it come with fuel?
No. e-NRG bioethanol is sold separately in 20 L cartons of four 5 L bottles. Add a carton to your order and we ship it with the table. Our delivery is free on all EcoSmart orders Australia wide.
