Aquascape · Rainwater Harvesting
The owner's insights on the Rainwater Storage Kit
The argument for this over a poly tank is entirely about what you can see. A tank takes a corner of the yard, needs a stand, and looks like what it is. This disappears under a lawn or a garden bed, and you get the corner back.
AquaBlox are the same modules used inside pondless waterfall reservoirs, so the engineering is proven rather than novel. They stack inside a sealed EPDM liner with geotextile underlay protecting it. A vault extension gives you pump access from the surface.
Six sizes from 1,900 to 11,300 litres. Choose on what you intend to do with the water rather than on roof area. Keeping a garden alive through a dry summer needs several thousand litres; topping up a water feature needs a fraction of that.
The cost that is not on this page is the excavation. An 11,300 litre reservoir is a substantial hole. Machine access to the site is the thing to check before you order anything.
How underground rainwater harvesting works
Roof water goes into a sealed reservoir buried in the ground instead of into a tank against the wall. Nothing is visible once it is backfilled.
- 1Rain leaves the roof as usualDownpipes are diverted into the reservoir rather than into the stormwater system.
- 2It stores undergroundAquaBlox modules inside a sealed EPDM liner hold the volume. You can plant or pave over the top.
- 3A pump sits in the vaultReachable through the lid for servicing, without excavating anything again.
- 4You draw on it when you need itIrrigation, a water feature, or both. It is water you have already paid for once.
Why you'll love the Rainwater Storage Kit
Nothing to look at
It is under the lawn. You get the corner of the yard back that a tank would have taken.
Proven modules
The same AquaBlox used in pondless waterfall reservoirs, not a novel product.
Six sizes
From 1,900 to 11,300 litres, so you can size to the job rather than the nearest tank.
Plantable and pavable
Backfill and put a garden or paving over the top of it.
Pump access from the surface
The vault extension means servicing never requires digging again.
Water you already paid for
Roof water that would otherwise go to stormwater, kept for the garden.
Why you should consider an Aquascape water feature
Aquascape originated the pondless format and holds the Pondless® trademark. The Australian arm operates from Queensland with a certified installer network behind it. Order through My Acre and we will beat any genuine like-for-like price you find elsewhere. If a warranty question ever comes up, you are calling us directly, not an overseas call centre.
Tell us the space before you order
Send us the dimensions and a photo. We will size it properly, tell you what the rock and excavation will really cost, and say so if a different kit suits you better.

Frequently asked questions
What size do I need?
Work back from what you want to do with it. Irrigation through a dry summer needs far more than topping up a water feature. Tell us your roof area and your intended use and we will size it with you.
Can I drink it?
Not without a treatment train that this system does not include. Treat it as garden, irrigation and water-feature supply. Talk to a licensed plumber if potable use is the goal.
Can I drive over it?
AquaBlox are engineered to be buried and backfilled. Loading above a reservoir depends entirely on the depth of cover and the vehicle, so ask us before you plan a driveway over one.
Do I need council approval?
It varies by council and by what the water is used for. Non-potable garden use is usually simple enough. Check with your local council before you excavate.
Why not just use a poly tank?
Visibility and space. A tank needs a footprint, a stand and somewhere it will not be an eyesore. This goes under the garden and gives you that space back. A tank is cheaper; this is invisible.
Is the pump included?
No. The kit is the reservoir, the liner, the underlay and the vault extension for access. Tell us what you are running off it and we will match a pump.
How long does the liner last?
EPDM is the same material used in pond liners and is rated in decades rather than years. Buried and protected by geotextile it is not exposed to UV, which is what ages liner material.
Can I add a waterfall to it later?
Yes. The Rainwater Harvesting Pondless Waterfall Add-On Kit is built for exactly that. It is easier if you plan the position before you backfill.
