The owner's insights on the Rainwater Waterfall Add-On Kit
The idea here is that one body of water does two jobs. The reservoir you buried for irrigation becomes the sump for a waterfall, so the stored water is visible and moving instead of sitting underground waiting for a dry spell.
It is genuinely just an add-on. You need an existing Aquascape rainwater harvesting reservoir for it to work, because the kit supplies the waterfall half of the system rather than the storage half.
The components are the same ones in the standalone pondless kits: a Pondless Waterfall Vault for pump placement and access, a waterfall spillway, and the EPDM liner the water runs over before disappearing into gravel.
As with every pondless product, the rock is yours and it is the cost people forget. Budget it against the length of the run before you order.
How the add-on turns storage into a feature
It uses the reservoir you already have as the sump for a pondless waterfall, so one body of water does two jobs.
- 1The pump sits in the vaultInside the existing rainwater reservoir, reachable through the lid.
- 2Water is lifted to the spillwayUp a buried pipe to a waterfall spillway at the head of the run.
- 3It runs down the linerOver the EPDM liner and the rock you set on it.
- 4It soaks back into storageThrough the gravel and into the same reservoir. Nothing is wasted and nothing stands open.
Why you'll love the Rainwater Waterfall Add-On Kit
One body of water, two jobs
Irrigation storage and a waterfall, from the same reservoir and the same pump.
Nothing stands open
Water disappears into gravel at the base. No pond to fence or net.
Uses what you already buried
No second reservoir, no second excavation.
Proper pump access
The Pondless Waterfall Vault means servicing happens through a lid.
Water that is not wasted
Recirculating means evaporation is the only loss.
Genuinely DIY-able
One plumbing run and a rock stream, if the reservoir is already in.
Why you should consider an Aquascape water feature
Aquascape originated the pondless format and holds the Pondless® trademark. The Australian arm operates from Queensland with a certified installer network behind it. Order through My Acre and we will beat any genuine like-for-like price you find elsewhere. If a warranty question ever comes up, you are calling us directly, not an overseas call centre.
Tell us the space before you order
Send us the dimensions and a photo. We will size it properly, tell you what the rock and excavation will really cost, and say so if a different kit suits you better.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need the storage kit first?
Yes. This is an add-on that turns an existing Aquascape rainwater reservoir into a waterfall. It does not include storage of its own.
Is there any open water?
No. The water runs down the stream and soaks into gravel at the base, returning to the buried reservoir. Nothing stands open at ground level.
Can I run it and still irrigate from the same water?
Yes, that is the point of it. Bear in mind that a waterfall running continuously loses water to evaporation, so a dry spell will draw the reservoir down faster than storage alone.
How much rock will I need?
It depends on the length and width of the run. Aquascape allow roughly 1.4 tonnes per three metres of stream, with pebble on top at about 30 per cent of that again.
Do I need council approval?
It varies by council and by what the water is used for. Non-potable garden use is usually simple enough. Check with your local council before you excavate.
Is a pump included?
Not separately. If your reservoir already has one sized for irrigation, it may not be right for a waterfall. Tell us the run you want and we will check.
Can I install it myself?
If the reservoir is already in, yes. It is one plumbing run, a spillway and a rock stream.
Can I drink it?
Not without a treatment train that this system does not include. Treat it as garden, irrigation and water-feature supply. Talk to a licensed plumber if potable use is the goal.
