The owner's insights on the MARCEL Original
Most charcoal barbecues are designed to be wheeled out of sight. The MARCEL is designed to stay where it is. Aluvy cast the body in aluminium at their factory in Isère, then finished it in colours you would pick for furniture rather than for a machine. It reads as a piece of the terrace, not as equipment parked on it.
The number that matters is 3,100 cm². That is two stainless grids, each 56 by 28 cm, which is enough for ten to twelve people eating at once rather than in shifts. The stainless lid is included in the box, so the fire is covered the moment you finish with it.
It is charcoal, so it asks something of you. If you want to press a button and be cooking in ten minutes, a gas barbecue will suit you better and we will say so. What you get in exchange is the flavour charcoal gives, plus a fire you can sit near once the cooking is done.
One practical note. It weighs 45 kg and stands on a four-point base, so it is not something you reposition on a whim. Decide where it lives before it arrives. Two people can place it comfortably.
Why you'll love the MARCEL Original
Feed the whole table at once
3,100 cm² of grill across two removable stainless grids, sized for ten to twelve people rather than cooking in relays.
Clear the ash without the mess
A stainless ash tray sits under the fire and pulls out through a magnetic hatch in the base. No tipping, no shovelling.
Leave it outside all year
Cast aluminium does not rust. The stainless lid comes in the box and sheds weather while offering very little for the wind to catch.
Keep the tools where you cook
The same magnetic hatch conceals a storage space, so tongs, gloves and a bag of charcoal live inside the barbecue instead of in the shed.
Put the grids in the dishwasher
Both stainless grids lift straight out and are dishwasher safe, which removes the job everyone puts off.
Choose a colour, not a finish
Five colourways in the Original frame: Blanc, Soie, Terracotta, Aquasplash and Reseda, each with the cream lid, legs and badge.
Why you should consider an Aluvy barbecue
Aluvy build in Isère, in south-eastern France. The MARCEL has carried Origine France Garantie certification since October 2021, which is an audited mark rather than a marketing line. The castings, the stainless lid and the grids are all made there. We hold a price beat on it: find the same model advertised for less by an Australian seller and we will beat that price. We arrange delivery anywhere in Australia and check in with you within a week of it landing. If anything ever goes wrong we handle the warranty claim for you. You call us on an Australian number, not an overseas call centre.
Talk it through before you order
Colour is the part people go back and forth on; photographs only get you so far. Call and we will talk through how the five Original colourways sit against paving, render or timber decking.

Frequently asked questions
How many people does the MARCEL cook for?
Ten to twelve. The two stainless grids give 3,100 cm² of cooking surface in total, which is enough to serve a full table in one go rather than in shifts.
What is the difference between the Original and Basalt frames?
The barbecue is identical. Original has a cream lid, legs and badge; Basalt has them in charcoal. The body colours offered differ between the two, so Aquasplash and Reseda are Original only, while Anthracite and Kaki are Basalt only.
Can I leave the MARCEL outside?
Yes. The body is cast aluminium, so it does not rust. The stainless steel lid comes in the box. A protective cover is available separately if you want to keep it clean between uses.
Does it come with a lid?
Yes. The stainless steel lid is included and is made in France alongside the rest of the barbecue. It is shaped to offer minimal wind resistance.
How do I empty the ash?
A stainless steel ash tray sits below the fire and slides out through a magnetic hatch in the base. The same hatch conceals a storage compartment for your tools and charcoal.
Can I turn the MARCEL into an outdoor kitchen?
Yes. The Aluvy JEAN cabinet stands against either side of the barbecue and adds a worktop plus two storage compartments. It is not fixed to the barbecue, so nothing needs drilling. Order the left or right version depending on which side you want it to sit.
Is the MARCEL heavy to move?
It weighs 45 kg. Two people can position it without difficulty, though it is not something you would move regularly. Choose its spot before delivery.
Where is the MARCEL made?
In Aluvy's own factory in Isère, in south-eastern France. It carries Origine France Garantie certification, which is independently audited rather than self-declared.
