The owner's insights on the Oase Aquarius Fountain Pump
A fountain lives or dies on its pump. Too little pressure and the water dribbles; too much and it throws spray across the path. The Aquarius range is built for fountains, statues and water features, pushing water up through a nozzle rather than through a filter.
Three ranges sit on this page. The Universal Classic 3000 is a compact pump for a statue or small fountain. Eco Premium covers most garden fountains from 4,500 to 16,500 litres an hour. Eco Expert runs large display fountains up to 44,000 litres an hour with heads over 10 metres.
The Eco models do something a basic pump cannot: a dynamic function varies the output so the fountain changes height and pattern. They are made in Germany and protected against running dry or blocking.
It is the wrong pump for a pond filter. If you are moving water through a filter or up a waterfall, the AquaMax range is designed for that. Tell us the nozzle or feature you are driving. We will pick the pump that suits it.

Why you should consider an Oase fountain pump
Oase is a German company that has engineered pond and water equipment since 1949. In Australia it is supplied by Aquatec Equipment, part of the Oase Group. Step one: start from the nozzle or feature, not the pond
- A fountain pump is chosen by what it has to drive, which is the opposite of a filter pump.
- Find the flow and head your nozzle, spout or feature asks for. Good nozzles publish both.
- A sheet or blade wants volume at low pressure. A tall jet wants pressure at lower volume. They are different pumps.
- If the feature came without numbers, measure the outlet width and tell us; we will work backwards from it.
Step two: add the height it has to climb
- 1. Measure the vertical rise from the water surface to the outlet, in metres.
- 2. Add about 10% of the hose run as friction.
- 3. Read the head column below. The pump must beat that total with room to spare, because flow falls as head rises.

The Eco Premium range covers the majority of domestic features. Step up only when the head or the flow actually calls for it.

Worked at 30c per kWh running 12 hours a day, which is our assumption rather than a manufacturer figure. Put your own tariff against the wattage and the sums are the same.
Costed at 12 hours a day, because most people run a feature while they are home rather than overnight. A timer or a controller pays for itself quickly at the larger end.
What to measure before you decide
- Flow and head your nozzle or feature requires, if published.
- Vertical rise from water surface to the outlet, in metres.
- Hose run length and internal diameter, against 19 to 38 mm on the smaller models, 38 or 50 mm on the Expert.
- Whether you want the height adjustable, which means a variable speed model.
- Whether the same pump also has to feed a filter, which changes the sums entirely.

Frequently asked questions
Fountain pump or pond pump?
A fountain pump is built to push water up through a nozzle or statue at pressure. A filter pump is built to move volume through a filter. For a fountain, statue or water feature choose Aquarius. For a pond filter choose AquaMax.
Which size do I need?
Start with the nozzle or feature. Each fountain attachment needs a certain flow at a certain height. Check that the pump delivers that flow at the height the water rises. Tell us the feature. We will match the pump to it.
What is the dynamic function?
On the Eco Premium and Eco Expert, Oase call it DFC. It varies the pump output so the fountain changes height and pattern. It runs through the OASE Control app with a Garden Controller or InScenio FM-Master.
Can it run out of the water?
Yes. All three ranges can be installed submerged or dry. The Eco Premium includes a suction adapter so it keeps working at low water levels.
Can it go in salt water?
Oase state the Eco Premium can be installed in pond, pool or salt water. Ask us before using the other ranges in salt water.
What does the warranty cover?
Oase give 3 years, plus a further 2 years on registration for the Eco ranges. You call My Acre and we handle the claim with Aquatec, the Australian distributor.
