DAB Cast Iron Garden and House Pump
Self-priming cast iron jet pump, 1.1 to 2.2 kW, with or without a pressure switch.
The owner's insights on the DAB Cast Iron Garden and House Pump
The DAB cast iron jet pump is a self-priming surface pump for lifting water from a tank, dam or river. DAB give it suction capability of up to 8 m. The six models here run from 1.1 kW to 2.2 kW.
We see it moving water from a rainwater tank to a house, feeding irrigation or washing down. The M models are the pump alone, so you add your own pressure control. The MP models come with a pressure switch and gauge that start and stop the pump with demand.
Each model weighs 30 to 36 kg packed, so plan for two people to lift it into place. It suits clean water; DAB's data sheets mention only low levels of sand, so heavily silted water needs a different pump.
Why you'll love the DAB cast iron jet pump
Self-priming
DAB say each pump draws water from the source by itself, with suction capability of up to 8 m.
Cast iron body
The pump body is GJL 200 cast iron, a heavy casting for a fixed installation in a shed or pump house.
Pressure switch models
The MP models include a pressure switch with adjustable differential and a gauge, so the pump starts and stops with demand.
From a tank, dam or river
DAB's data sheets say the range is designed for pumping from tanks, rivers and dams where air bubbles are present.
Six models, one family
Choose 1.1, 1.47, 1.85 or 2.2 kW, with or without a pressure switch, to match your flow and head.
Why you should consider a DAB pump
DAB publish a data sheet for every model here, with its technical data and a 2 year warranty mark. The supplier lists 24 months on each. Buying through My Acre gives you our price-beat promise: find the same pump cheaper from an authorised Australian seller and we will beat it.

Choosing between the M and MP models
The M models are the pump alone, with no automatic operation. The MP models add a pressure switch with adjustable differential and a pressure gauge, so they start and stop on pressure.
DAB preset the 151MP and 251MP switch to cut in at 3.1 bar and cut out at 4.8 bar. The 200MP starts at 1.7 bar and stops at 3.0 bar.
Sizing a DAB jet pump by flow and head
The 151 models give up to 75 L/min and 61 m of head; the 251 models 120 L/min and 62 m; the 200MP 175 L/min and 41 m; the 300M 175 L/min and 51 m.
As a rule of thumb of ours, choose more head for a long rise or a tall house and more flow for irrigation and wash down. Tell us your use and we will match the model.
Pumping from a tank, dam or river
DAB's data sheets say these pumps are designed for pumping from tanks, rivers and dams. They also list small-scale agriculture, irrigation and wash down. The pumps are self-priming, with suction capability of up to 8 m.
DAB highly recommend adding a pressure tank, because it protects the pump from excessive cycling and water hammer.
Frequently asked questions
What does M or MP mean on a DAB jet pump?
M models are the pump on its own. MP models add a pressure switch with adjustable differential and a pressure gauge, so the pump starts and stops with water demand.
Is the DAB cast iron jet pump self-priming?
Yes. DAB describe each of these pumps as self-priming, with suction capability of up to 8 m from the source. Follow the DAB manual for the first start.
Can the DAB pump draw from a tank, dam or river?
Yes. DAB's data sheets say these pumps are designed for pumping from tanks, rivers and dams where air bubbles or small particles of sand are present. The supplier lists the use as tank transfer.
Do I need a pressure tank with a DAB jet pump?
DAB highly recommend one, because a pressure tank protects the pump from excessive cycling and water hammer. No pressure tank is included with any model.
Do the M models need anything added?
Yes. The M models are the pump only, with no automatic operation, so they need a pressure switch or controller to start and stop. Choose an MP model if you want the switch and gauge included.
Which DAB model suits my needs?
Choose by flow and head. The 151 models give up to 75 L/min; the 251 models give 120 L/min; the 200MP and 300M give 175 L/min with less head. Tell us your use and we will match the model.
Who handles the warranty on the DAB pump?
We do. Contact My Acre and we will handle the claim with the supplier for you. The supplier lists 24 months on every model. DAB's data sheets also show a 2 year warranty mark.
