The Pedestal is the Cocoon shell on a floor stand. It is 600 mm across and stands 740 mm tall on a 400 mm round base, so the flame sits at seated eye level beside a sofa or a lounge chair. It burns bioethanol from a 1.5 litre combustion chamber and gives out 3.0 kW. Nothing is fixed to the house, so you place it where you want it and move it when the room changes.
The finish decides where it can go. The stainless steel model is marine grade; Cocoon Fires say that lets it be used all year round, so it can move between the living room and a sheltered terrace. The matt black model is made for indoor use only, though a covered alfresco is fine as long as it is not exposed to direct rain or water.
Because there is no ceiling or wall fixing, the Pedestal is the Cocoon to choose for a rented home, an apartment with a concrete ceiling or a room you are not ready to drill. The shell also converts to the hanging Aeris if you install a ceiling fixing later.
