The owner's insights on the Cocoon Aeris Hanging
The Aeris is a bioethanol fireplace that hangs from the ceiling on a slim pole, so the flame sits at eye level in the middle of the room instead of against a wall. The shell is 600 mm across and 380 mm high. It burns from a 1.5 litre combustion chamber and gives out 3.0 kW. You pour the fuel in by hand, so there is no gas line to run and no hearth to build.
Choose the finish by where it will live. The stainless steel model is marine grade; Cocoon Fires say that lets it be used all year round, which is why it is the one to choose for a sheltered outdoor room as well as a living room. It is also the only Aeris that turns a full 360 degrees on its telescopic pole. The matt black and matt white models are made for indoor use only, though a covered alfresco is fine as long as it is not exposed to direct rain or water.
Check the ceiling before anything else. The fixing point has to be load bearing and rated for at least 150 kg. The anchors are not in the box because they depend on what your ceiling is made of. The stainless pole sets at five heights from 985 mm to 1345 mm. The black and white poles are built from fixed lengths, with an angled ceiling base for a raked ceiling of up to 25 degrees on the white angled pole model. The Aeris is not the fire for an exposed, windy deck; for that we would point you to an EcoSmart fire table or an Ochre Living wood fireplace. If your ceiling cannot take the load, the Cocoon Pedestal is the same shell on a floor stand. The Vellum puts it on the wall.

Planning the ceiling fixing
The Aeris fixes to the ceiling through a base plate with four 7 mm holes. The surface behind it must be load bearing and rated for at least 150 kg. Your installer fixes it with metal anchors that suit your ceiling; they are not supplied.
Hanging height comes from the pole. The stainless telescopic pole has five set heights, 985, 1075, 1165, 1255 and 1345 mm. The black and white poles are made up from fixed sections. For a raked ceiling, the white angled pole model takes a slope of up to 25 degrees.
