ClayTech Submersible Pond Pump
Two sizes, from 140 to 240 L/min.
The owner's insights on the ClayTech Submersible Pond Pump
The Subpond is a compact submersible pump for circulating clean water in a pond, a water feature or a fountain. It sits in the water and plugs into a power point on an 8 metre cable. ClayTech list it as plug and play.
Pick the pump by the water you want to move and how high it must climb. The Subpond 300 moves up to 140 L/min to 7 metres of head. The Subpond 700 moves up to 240 L/min to 10 metres. Both have a 1 1/4 inch outlet.
ClayTech say the housing is a corrosion-resistant thermoplastic. The pump can be installed horizontally or vertically. They list it for waterfalls, ornamental fountains and continuous water supply, in residential and light commercial settings.
It is a circulation pump, not a filter, so it will not clear your water on its own. The listing gives a water temperature range of 0 to 35 degrees Celsius.

Step one: compare the two sizes
| Model | Max flow | Max head | Power | Size (D x W x H) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Subpond 300 | 140 L/min | 7 m | 0.20 kW | 140 x 140 x 290 mm |
| Subpond 700 | 240 L/min | 10 m | 0.55 kW | 140 x 140 x 320 mm |
Figures are from the White International listings.
Step two: check the pump against your pond
- 1. Measure the height from the pump up to the highest point the water must reach, such as the top of a waterfall.
- 2. Choose a pump whose listed head is above that height. Our rule of thumb: leave a good margin, since flow falls as the lift rises.
- 3. Look at the pump curve on the White International listing for each model, which shows flow against head.
- 4. Measure the cable run from the pump to a power point. The cable is 8 m. Your outlet fitting is 1 1/4 inch BSP.
