Atlas Filtri BIG F Pro UV Filtration System
Whole house UV system with sediment filters, plumbed on one bracket under a lockable cover.
The owner's insights on the Atlas Filtri BIG F Pro UV Filtration System
The Big F Pro is a whole house UV system for a rural water supply such as rainwater, bore or dam water. Atlas Filtri mount the sediment filters and the UV chamber together on one bracket under a lockable cover, plumbed with a single inlet and outlet.
We would choose it for a house on a tank. The filters take sediment out first. Atlas Filtri then say the UV lamp inactivates harmful micro-organisms, including bacteria, protozoa and some viruses.
UV only works on clear water. Incoming water needs UV transmittance above 95% and iron below 0.3 mg/L, so hard or iron-rich bore water needs pre-treatment first. Each unit weighs 23 to 32 kg packed.
Why you'll love the Big F Pro
Pre-plumbed on one bracket
The filters and UV chamber arrive plumbed together with one inlet and one outlet, so there is no pipework to design between them.
Lockable weather cover
A lockable, weather-resistant cover protects the unit from the weather, from children and from vandalism.
Lamp counter and alarm
A digital display, lamp life counter and audible alarm tell you when the lamp needs replacing.
No chemicals to add
UV treats the water without dosing chemicals, so there is nothing to top up between lamp changes.
Flow direction your way
Reversible mounting lets you choose the flow direction, so the pipework can arrive from either side.
Filters sized to the UV
The pre-filters are matched to the UV chamber, so you start with the right cartridges.
Why you should consider an Atlas Filtri UV system

Which Big F Pro model suits your home
Match the model to your household flow. At a 40 mJ/cm² dose the 156 and 256 treat 54 L/min and the 267 treats 72 L/min. Atlas Filtri also list 70 and 95 L/min at 30 mJ/cm².
The Plus models add a 5 micron carbon block between the sediment cartridges. The 156 uses 10 inch housings and the others use 20 inch, which hold more filter media.
What water the Big F Pro can treat
UV needs clear water to work. Atlas Filtri's limits for incoming water are UV transmittance above 95%, total hardness below 120 mg/L, iron below 0.3 mg/L, manganese below 0.05 mg/L and hydrogen sulphide below 0.3 mg/L.
The warranty applies only when the water meets these limits, so test your water first. If it does not meet them, pre-treatment may be needed.
Servicing a Big F Pro UV system
Replace the UV lamp every 9,000 hours, which is about once a year. Clean the quartz sleeve at least quarterly. Replace its O-ring yearly unless it is damaged earlier.
Change the filter cartridges every 3 to 12 months or when pressure loss reaches 1 bar. Atlas Filtri advise asking your supplier about sleeve cleaning if your water quality is poor.
Frequently asked questions
What does a whole house UV system do?
A whole house UV system treats incoming water with ultraviolet light. Atlas Filtri say the Big F Pro's lamp inactivates harmful micro-organisms. Its pre-filters take out sediment first so the light can reach them.
Do I need UV for tank or bore water?
UV suits a rural supply such as rainwater or bore water with no other protection. Atlas Filtri describe it as an insurance policy, because bacteria, parasites and viruses cannot be seen in water. A water test tells you more.
What water quality does the Big F Pro need?
The incoming water should have UV transmittance above 95%, total hardness below 120 mg/L, iron below 0.3 mg/L, manganese below 0.05 mg/L and hydrogen sulphide below 0.3 mg/L. Otherwise add pre-treatment.
How often does the Big F Pro need servicing?
Replace the UV lamp every 9,000 hours, about once a year. Atlas Filtri advise cleaning the quartz sleeve at least quarterly and changing filter cartridges every 3 to 12 months or when pressure loss reaches 1 bar.
Which Big F Pro model should I choose?
Match the model to your flow. At a 40 mJ/cm² dose the 156 and 256 treat 54 L/min and the 267 treats 72 L/min. The Plus models add a 5 micron carbon block. Tell us about your household and we will help.
Can the Big F Pro be installed outside?
The cover is weather-resistant and lockable. The unit works from 4 to 40°C, so it must be protected from freezing. Tell us where you plan to mount it and we will talk it through.
How is the Big F Pro powered?
It runs on 110 to 240 V AC, 50/60 Hz, through a 2 m power cable. Power use is 61 W on the 156, 256 and 256 Plus and 73 W on the 267 and 267 Plus.
Who handles the warranty on the Big F Pro?
We do. Contact My Acre and we will handle the claim with the supplier for you. Atlas Filtri's warranty statement gives three years from the date of purchase. Wear items such as filter cartridges and seals are not covered.
