The owner's insights on the Large Pondless Waterfall Kit
This is the biggest pondless kit Aquascape builds. Eight metres of stream, a 630 litre reservoir buried under the gravel, and a pump moving up to 30,000 litres an hour. At that scale you stop hearing a trickle and start hearing actual water.
630 litres supports roughly 4.1 square metres of stream, which is nearly double the Medium kit. That extra volume is what lets the run stay convincing over eight metres rather than thinning out.
Eight metres also means fall. You need enough slope from the top of the waterfall down to the basin for the water to run, either a natural bank or one you build. On flat ground the whole header has to be constructed up, which is a different job and a different budget.
Plan the stone before anything else. Eight metres wants close to 3.7 tonnes plus pebble. That is a truck, not a trailer. It is not in the box.
How a pondless waterfall actually works
It is a closed loop, half of it buried. The same water goes round and round. None of it ever sits in an open pond. This is the half that photographs never show you.
In the kit You supply
The kit is the plumbing. The excavation and about 3.7 tonnes of rock and pebble are yours.
- 1The pump lifts itA pump sits inside the vault and pushes water up the buried pipe.
- 2The spillway releases itWater arrives at the head of the run and spills across the top stone.
- 3It runs down your rockIt falls over the stone you set on the liner. This is the part you design.
- 4It soaks back throughThe water drains through the gravel into the 630 L reservoir, then round again.
Why you'll love the Large Pondless Waterfall Kit
Eight metres of moving water
Long enough to read as a creek running through the garden rather than a feature bolted onto one corner of it.
Nothing stands open
The water vanishes into gravel at the base. No pond to fence, no still surface, nothing to net.
630 litres held out of sight
A Vault plus five Large AquaBlox carry the volume underground, so the reservoir keeps running through hot, windy weather.
Lights the full run
A three-light LED package is included, enough to pick out the drops along an eight metre stream after dark.
Choose your flow
Take the fixed 20,000 litre per hour pump, or step up to the adjustable model and tune the falls once the rock is set.
Tops itself up
The Compact Fill Valve plumbs to your tap and replaces what evaporates, which matters more at this surface area.
Why you should consider an Aquascape water feature
Aquascape originated the pondless format and holds the Pondless® trademark. The Australian arm operates from Queensland with a certified installer network behind it. Order through My Acre and we will beat any genuine like-for-like price you find elsewhere. If a warranty question ever comes up, you are calling us directly, not an overseas call centre.
Talk it through before you order
Tell us the fall you have and the width you want. We will run the reservoir and rock numbers with you. We will sort the install if you would rather not build it yourself.

Making the water fall where you want it
Waterfall foam is what turns a pile of rock into a clean sheet of water. This is how it is used.
Frequently asked questions
What is a pondless waterfall, in plain terms?
A waterfall with no pond at the bottom. The water runs down a stream you build, soaks into gravel at the base, collects in a hidden tank underground, then gets pumped back to the top. You see and hear moving water with nothing standing open at ground level.
How much stream will 630 litres run?
About 4.1 square metres, nearly double the Medium kit. Aquascape's own formula asks for 154 litres of reservoir per square metre of stream. That extra volume is what keeps an eight metre run convincing rather than thin.
How much fall do I need?
Enough slope from the top of the waterfall down to the basin for water to run under gravity. A natural bank is ideal. On flat ground the header has to be built up, which adds fill, retaining and cost to the job.
How much rock does an 8 metre stream take?
Around 3.7 tonnes of rock and boulder, based on Aquascape's allowance of roughly 1.4 tonnes per three metres, plus pebble at about 30 per cent of that weight again. None of it is included. Arrange delivery locally and have it on site before you start.
Which pump should I choose?
The fixed AquaSurge 20000 suits a build where the falls are set and you are happy with them. The adjustable 15,000 to 30,000 model lets you tune the flow after the rock is placed, which is useful if you are shaping the falls by eye.
What does the Deluxe option add?
Colour-changing LED lighting in place of the white package, paired with the adjustable pump. Everything else in the kit is identical.
How deep do I need to dig?
At least 650 mm at the basin, which is the height of the Pondless Waterfall Vault. The stream bed above it is shallow by comparison, following whatever fall you have.
Does it need power?
Yes. The pump runs on mains power and needs a weatherproof outdoor power point within reach of the basin. Have a licensed electrician install one if you do not already have it.
