The owner's insights on the 152cm Fountain Bowl Kit
This is the biggest thing we sell that still needs no excavation. Both bowls are self-contained, so the whole system sits on the surface. For a paved terrace or a formal entry where digging is not an option, that is the entire argument for it.
Two bowls running off one pump is what makes it read as a composition rather than an object. The 152cm holds the space; the 81cm beside it gives the arrangement a second scale and a second water sound. Buying them separately and matching the plumbing yourself is fiddly, which is why this ships as a kit.
It arrives with the filtration kit, spillway stands, plumbing, glue and silicone. That matters more than it sounds. A surface-mounted system has no gravel bed to hide anything, so every connection is visible and has to be done properly.
Lunar Gray and Green Slate are the two colourways. Lunar Gray is a pale warm concrete that lifts a shaded courtyard. Green Slate is darker and cooler, so it disappears into planting rather than standing against it.
How a self-contained fountain actually works
It is a closed loop with half of it buried. The same water circulates continuously. Nothing ever stands in an open pond, which is the whole point of the format.
- 1A reservoir goes in the groundYou dig a shallow hole and drop the basin in. It holds the water and carries the weight of the piece above it.
- 2The pump sits inside itOut of sight, out of the weather, and reachable through the lid whenever it needs a clean.
- 3Water rises through the featureUp a short length of tubing, then out over the stone.
- 4It drains straight back downThrough the pebble and into the reservoir. You top it up occasionally rather than plumbing it in.
Why you'll love the 152cm Fountain Bowl Kit
No excavation at all
Both bowls sit on the surface. This is the option when you are working over paving, a slab or a rooftop terrace.
Two scales, one system
A 152cm bowl and an 81cm bowl running off a single pump, so it reads as a composition rather than a single object.
Filtration included
The 81cm bowl filtration kit is in the box, which keeps the water clear without a separate pond filter.
Everything to plumb it
Spillway stands, pipework, glue and silicone. Surface installs show every joint, so this matters.
Two considered colourways
Lunar Gray to lift a shaded space, Green Slate to settle into planting.
A genuine centrepiece
At 152cm it holds a large terrace on its own without needing anything else around it.
Why you should consider an Aquascape water feature
Aquascape originated the pondless format and holds the Pondless® trademark. The Australian arm operates from Queensland with a certified installer network behind it. Order through My Acre and we will beat any genuine like-for-like price you find elsewhere. If a warranty question ever comes up, you are calling us directly, not an overseas call centre.
Not sure which one suits the spot?
Send us a photo of where it is going and the rough dimensions. We will tell you which piece works there and which one will not, before you spend anything.

Frequently asked questions
Does this one need digging?
No. Both bowls are self-contained and sit on the surface, which is what makes this the choice for paved terraces, slabs and rooftop spaces where excavation is impossible.
Is there open water?
Yes, in the bowls themselves, unlike the urns and spheres. The bowls are raised well above ground level, so they are not a step-in hazard, though they are not a sealed system either.
What is the difference between the finishes?
Lunar Gray is a pale warm concrete tone that lifts a shaded courtyard. Green Slate is darker and cooler and recedes into planting. Both are through-coloured.
How heavy is it?
Substantial. Plan the final position before it arrives, because moving a filled 152cm bowl is not possible and moving an empty one is a job for several people.
How often do I top it up?
Through summer, roughly weekly. Evaporation is the only loss in a sealed system. A hot windy week takes more than a still one.
Does it need power?
Yes. The pump runs on mains power and needs a weatherproof outdoor power point within reach of the basin. Have a licensed electrician install one if you do not already have it.
What happens in winter?
Nothing, in most of Australia. Where you do get hard frost, shut the pump down and drain the feature so water cannot freeze inside it.
Can I install it myself?
Most people can. It is a shallow excavation, a level base, one plumbing connection and a power point. If you would rather not, we can organise a certified installer or work with your own landscaper.
