The owner's insights on the Curved Spillway Wall Fountain Kit
This is the only piece in the range that reads as architecture rather than as an object. It sits against a wall or a boundary and behaves like a built water wall, which is what people usually want in a narrow courtyard where a freestanding piece would obstruct the space.
Three separate outlets across the top is the detail that matters. Each is fed by its own length of tubing, so you can balance them independently. One feed across a wide spillway always favours the centre and leaves the ends dry; three feeds give you an even curtain.
It runs an Ultra 8000, the largest pump on any fountain in this range, into a 370 litre AquaBasin 45. That is a lot of water moving over a wide face. It is the loudest piece here, so it is the one to choose if you are covering genuine traffic noise.
The curve is functional as well as visual. A curved face throws sound outward across a space rather than straight back at the wall behind it, which is why it works in a courtyard where a flat panel would sound harsh.
How a self-contained fountain actually works
It is a closed loop with half of it buried. The same water circulates continuously. Nothing ever stands in an open pond, which is the whole point of the format.
- 1A reservoir goes in the groundYou dig a shallow hole and drop the basin in. It holds the water and carries the weight of the piece above it.
- 2The pump sits inside itOut of sight, out of the weather, and reachable through the lid whenever it needs a clean.
- 3Water rises through the featureUp a short length of tubing, then out over the stone.
- 4It drains straight back downThrough the pebble and into the reservoir. You top it up occasionally rather than plumbing it in.
Why you'll love the Curved Spillway Wall Fountain Kit
It looks built, not placed
Against a wall or a boundary it reads as architecture. Nothing obstructs the middle of a narrow courtyard.
Three balanced outlets
Each fed separately, so you get an even curtain instead of a strong centre and dry ends.
The loudest in the range
An Ultra 8000 over a wide face. This is the one that genuinely covers road noise.
The curve does real work
It throws sound outward across the space rather than bouncing it back off the wall behind.
Ages like stone
Stacked slate texture on a durable composite. It weathers rather than fading.
No open water
370 litres of reservoir, all of it sealed below a grate.

Frequently asked questions
Is there any open water?
No. The only water you see is the film moving over the feature itself. Everything else sits below ground inside a sealed basin under a grate, so there is nothing for a child to step into.
Does it need a wall behind it?
It is designed to sit against one and looks best that way. It is not structurally dependent on the wall, so it can stand free if the position calls for it, though the back face is not finished to be seen.
Why three outlets rather than one?
A single feed across a wide spillway always favours the centre, leaving the ends dry. Three independently fed outlets let you balance the flow so the whole face runs evenly.
How loud is it?
The loudest fountain in this range. An Ultra 8000 moving water over a wide face makes a genuine curtain of sound, which is why it is the usual choice for covering traffic noise.
How often do I top it up?
Through summer, roughly weekly. Evaporation is the only loss in a sealed system. A hot windy week takes more than a still one.
Does it need power?
Yes. The pump runs on mains power and needs a weatherproof outdoor power point within reach of the basin. Have a licensed electrician install one if you do not already have it.
What happens in winter?
Nothing, in most of Australia. Where you do get hard frost, shut the pump down and drain the feature so water cannot freeze inside it.
Can I move it later?
Yes, which is one of the real advantages over a pond. Drain it, lift the feature, dig out the basin and start again somewhere else. People do take these with them when they sell.
