A quality fire table can last well over a decade with proper care, but Australian weather has a habit of testing that promise. Before salt air, moisture or a missing cover cut that lifespan short, here is what actually determines how long yours lasts.
Lifespan comes down to three things: material quality, environmental exposure and how consistently you maintain it.
Australia is not gentle on outdoor products. Harsh UV, coastal salt air, heavy rain and long dry summers all take a toll on anything left outside year-round. Keep soft furnishings, cushions and lounges a sensible distance away too. Fabric absorbs heat over long periods of use, and guests have a habit of dragging chairs closer once the evening cools down.
Plenty of gas appliances fail at the smallest part first, the electronic ignitor, long before the frame shows any wear. Use a proper weather-resistant cover that still allows some airflow underneath, and store any removable accessories separately during long wet stretches.
