Schmick Twin-Zone Beer & Wine Bar Fridge, 215L
Under-bench builds where a single dual-zone unit replaces two separate fridges
Buyers who want a genuine second temperature zone, not just a wider single-zone fridge

The owner's insights on the SK198D
The Schmick SK198D runs on two completely separate refrigeration systems rather than a single compartment split in two, so the beer side and the wine side are each independently adjustable from 1°C to 18°C, with a 12-volt fan in every zone keeping the temperature even across every shelf. It holds 88 cans on the beer side and 28 wine bottles on the wine side, and every shelf slides out on a telescopic rail so the split between the two can change as your stock does.
We fit these into home bars and entertaining rooms that want dedicated beer and wine storage from one under-bench unit, replacing what would otherwise be two separate fridges.
If 88 cans and 28 bottles isn't enough, the 244L sits in the same price range and holds 110 cans and 34 bottles, though its 895mm width is noticeably wider than this unit's 750mm; if your cavity is narrower, the 215L is the one that fits.
Triple-glazed LOW E glass with a switchable heated-glass function keeps condensation off the door in humid conditions, at the cost of a bump from 1.89 to 3.36 kWh a day when it's switched on. Standard cover is two years parts and labour, extendable to three years total for $189, and My Acre manages any claim directly. Leave 10mm clear at the top and each side and 50mm at the rear for airflow.
Why you'll love the SK198D
Two zones, two temperatures
Independent cooling systems mean each side runs its own temperature, from 1°C to 18°C, not the shared compromise of a typical dual-zone unit. A heater on the wine side holds warmer temps through winter.
88 cans and 28 bottles
The beer zone holds 88 standard cans across chromed slide-out shelves, while the wine zone fits 28 bottles on slide-out racks with rubber saddle positioning.
Shelving that interchanges
Every shelf slides out on a telescopic rail and swaps between flat beer racks and cradle-style wine racks, so the split between cans and bottles changes as your stock does.
Condensation under control
Triple-glazed LOW E glass with a switchable heated-glass function stops fogging in humid conditions, at the cost of a small bump in running power when it's switched on.
12V fan-forced circulation
A 12-volt fan in each zone keeps temperature even across every shelf, so bottles at the back chill as evenly as cans up front.
Lockable doors, reversed hinges
One door hinges left, one hinges right, and both lock, so the fridge fits an under-bench run and stays secured in a shared space.

Exterior dimensions are 750W x 570D x 840H mm. If it's going into a cavity, joinery or under-bench recess, build the opening at least 770W x 620D x 850H mm to cover the fridge body plus clearance, and keep 50mm clear at the rear for airflow. It also stands freestanding with no cabinetry at all.
Frequently asked questions
Can I set different temperatures on each side?
Yes. The two zones are fully independent, each adjustable from 1°C to 18°C, so the beer side can run colder than the wine side or vice versa.
Does the heated glass cost much to run?
The heater is switchable on and off from the control panel. Running cost with it off is about $176.88 a year (1.89 kWh/24hr), rising to 3.36 kWh/24hr when switched on for humid conditions.
Can this fridge go outside?
It's rated for indoor use and enclosed alfresco areas, not open-air exposure to direct sun or rain.
Can the shelves be swapped between beer and wine?
Yes. Both the flat beer shelves and the cradle-style wine shelves are interchangeable and height-adjustable on telescopic slides, so the split between cans and bottles can change over time.
What's the warranty and who handles a claim?
2 years parts and labour as standard, extendable to 3 years total for $189. My Acre manages any claim directly so buyers aren't left chasing an overseas supplier.
What size opening do I need if I'm building it into cabinetry?
The fridge itself is 750W x 570D x 840H mm. Build the cavity to at least 770W x 620D x 850H mm to allow clearance and airflow, or leave it freestanding with no surrounding cabinetry at all.
