Billy Smoker Iconic Chef Open Fire Cooker
One inbuilt fire that grills, bakes and smokes.
Billy Smoker · Open Fire Cookers
The owner's insights on the Iconic Chef
The Iconic Chef takes the Artist's clean, inbuilt lines and adds a full wood-fired kitchen behind them. One fire runs three cooking modes: an open grill over coals, a 29-litre oven hot enough for a pizza in three minutes, and slow, low smoking for a shoulder of lamb or a whole chicken. It suits anyone who wants a fireplace that earns its keep rather than one that just looks good lit.
It is a fully welded, 3-6 mm steel firebox designed to be built into a wall or existing fireplace opening, finished in metallic black paint. Firebox doors are sold separately, so you can leave it open for a live flame or close it over with a Steele or Glaze door once cooking is done.
Why you'll love the Iconic Chef
Three ways to cook
Grill over open coals, bake in the 29-litre oven, or slow-smoke, all from the one fire.
Heats a real room
Rated to warm up to 125 m², so it works as your main outdoor heat source, not a novelty.
Built to last
3-6 mm fully welded steel firebox with ceramic heat banks and a fully welded spigot.
Two material grades
Mild steel is the industry-standard choice for covered outdoor areas. Stainless steel costs more but resists corrosion, the pick for coastal sites or anywhere left uncovered.
Grows with you
Add the Slimspit rotisserie or the Hotbox oven insert whenever you're ready to cook more.

Frequently asked questions
Mild steel or stainless steel?
Mild steel is the industry-standard material for wood-fired appliances and suits covered outdoor areas at a lower price. Stainless steel costs more but has a much lower corrosion rate, so it suits uncovered or coastal installations.
Does it come with a door?
No, the Iconic Chef ships as an open firebox. A Steele or Glaze door is sold separately if you want to close it over.
What's the difference between the Iconic Chef and the Iconic Artist?
The Artist is the simpler, open-fire version of the same inbuilt design. The Chef adds the 29-litre oven and the full cooking specification.
