Are bioethanol fire pits worth it?
Yes, if you want a real, contained flame without a gas line, a flue or built masonry. The EcoSmart bioethanol pits and tables are self-contained and portable, light in minutes and turn off instantly, and the rated models can also be used indoors. Prices run from $1,295 for the Mix 600 to $4,495 for the Cosmo 50.
Are bioethanol fire pits safe?
Yes. EcoSmart burners are built to recognised safety standards (UL 1370, EN 16647, and the ACCC Safety Mandate in Australia), with a MAX fill line, a sealed tank and a slider shut-off. Never add fuel while the burner is lit or hot: extinguish it, let it cool for at least 60 minutes, then refuel with the supplied jerry can and spout. Every model carries a 2-year warranty, managed by My Acre, with a 30-day satisfaction guarantee and free returns.
How much does a bioethanol fire pit or table cost to run?
About $1.90 an hour for the smaller models and up to about $6.90 an hour for the 6 kW models. e-NRG bioethanol lands at roughly $6.00 to $6.60 per litre delivered, which at full flame is about $1.90 an hour for the Mix 600 and Stix, around $5 an hour for the Cosmo 50, and about $6.90 an hour for the 6 kW models such as the Pod 30, Pod 40, Manhattan 50 and Martini 50. Turning the flame down cuts fuel use, and cost, by 30 to 50 per cent.
Can you use a bioethanol fire feature indoors?
Yes, on the rated models: the Pod 30, Pod 40, Fire Base 40, Manhattan 50, Martini 50, Mimosa 40, Mojito 40 and Cosmo 50. Indoor use requires the parts EcoSmart specifies to meet EN 16647 (an Indoor Safety Tray and burner efficiency ring), plus ventilation and a smoke alarm. The Mix 600, Mix 850, Stix and all three wood pieces are outdoor-only.
What size fire feature do I need for my space?
Match the burner to the area. The 2 kW burner in the Mix 600 and Stix warms roughly 20 square metres, suiting a balcony or courtyard. The 6 kW burner in the Pod, Mix 850 and most tables warms roughly 60 square metres, for a large terrace or open-plan room. Treat every model as supplemental zone heating and a focal point, not primary whole-home heat.
What is the difference between a fire pit and a fire table?
A fire pit is a flame-only centrepiece to gather around, such as the Mix 600 or the wood VisionLINE V2. A fire table sets that flame into a low table, adding a surface for drinks and food, and several models (Fire Base 40, Cosmo 50, Manhattan 50) convert to a flat coffee table with an optional cover plate.
Should I choose bioethanol or wood?
Choose bioethanol (EcoSmart) for a clean, smoke-free flame that lights in minutes, turns off instantly, runs flueless and can come indoors on the rated models. Choose wood (VisionLINE, Fabrizio) for the scent, sound and character of a timber fire outdoors. The VisionLINE pieces use secondary combustion to burn off most visible smoke and are tested to AS/NZS 4012.13.
Do these fire features need gas, a flue or installation?
No. The EcoSmart bioethanol pits and tables are self-contained and portable: no gas line, no flue, no plumber. You fill the burner with e-NRG, light it, and turn it off with the slider. The wood VisionLINE pieces ship pre-assembled and sit on any level, non-combustible outdoor surface. Follow the maker's clearances (EcoSmart specifies 2,000 mm overhead and 600 mm from fixed objects outdoors).
What fuel do the EcoSmart models use, and can I use anything else?
They use e-NRG bioethanol, EcoSmart's own fuel and the only one tested with its burners; other fuels can void the warranty. e-NRG burns to heat, water vapour and carbon dioxide with no soot, smoke or ash. Do not substitute isopropyl, methylated or denatured spirits, gel fuels, or untested supermarket bioethanol.
